Choosing my degree
Our degrees in computer science are suitable for those from a wide range of backgrounds, not just computing. A maths, physics or science background is usually suitable.
Our BSc degree in Computing Science is the most flexible option offering various specialisation options. It can also be taken with a year abroad, with an additional year in industry or as an integrated four year masters MCmp.
Our BEng in Computer Systems Engineering is suitable for students with a keen interest in hardware and software and includes 25% more lab time than BSc degrees. This can also be taken with a year in industry.
Our BSc in Computing Science, Imaging and Multimedia comprises modules taught in the School of Computing Sciences and modules taught in the School of Film, Television and Media Studies; it is ideal for those interested in combining video and sound processing with computer science.
The school has expertise in the area of computer graphics and offers both a BSc and MComp in Computer Graphics. These degrees are suitable for those who are interested in the technical, as opposed to artistic, aspects of computer graphics.
Those who are specifically interested in the development and implementation of software should choose the BSc in Software Engineering.
Our BSc in Applied Computing Science with a Foundation Year is a four year programme specifically designed to meet the requirements of students who lack the academic qualifications to start on one of our other programmes.
The school also offers a number of business related degrees. BSc Computing for Business comprises 2/3 computing and 1/3 business content. It is particularly suitable for those wishing to develop a career in computing for business. Computing for business is also offered with a year in industry.
The BSc Business Information Systems is more heavily weighted towards business, being approximately evenly split between business and computing topics.
Our Actuarial Science and Business Statistics programmes are taught in the School of Computing Sciences, School of Mathematics and the Norwich Business School and lead to highly paid and exciting careers in the insurance and finance industries.
