Computer scientist wanted for programming project with ENV researchers
Research into introgression in the genomes of plant pathogens has resulted in the development of a new software package written in the high level R language, for the analysis and visualization of data called HybRIDS.
We wish to package this into an easy to use application (GUI etc.), either independent to R or with R at the core. The end user should be able to use the application without any R skills if possible.
Working knowlege of skills in C++ or other high performance language is desired: work with HybRIDS now centres on optimisation and preparation working towards a single downloadable application, obtainable from the University web site, which is quick and easy to use.
The student responsible for creating HybRIDS thus far is a Biologist with experience in R, is learning C++, but is now reaching limits in terms of experience. The computer scientist would be working with the student to finish the HybRIDS project and also provide help and answers as he continues to learn C++ and programming, aiming to be able to create more general & powerful applications for our research.
If anybody is interested and is confirmed to work on this project – some money can be made available.
