School of Computing Sciences

Welcome to the School of Computing Sciences. For more than 40 years we have been recognised internationally for excellence in our Teaching, Research and Enterprise.

We’re very aware of the needs of industry and this is reflected in the development and application-led focus of our courses and research. We are experts in areas such as Interactive Graphics and Audio; Colour and Imaging; Computational Biology; Data Science; Artificial Intelligence and growing focus on Cloud Computing/Virtualisation, Internet Technologies and Cyber Security.

We consider how technology can help society and the economy. We continue to explore the impact of our advances in areas such as Agritech, Medicine, Energy, Environment, Health and Advanced Manufacturing. We're also probing the ethics behind the inventions of the future, and how to push for a more equal and diverse industry. We are part of the world-renowned Norwich Research Park and with the technology sector in the UK and beyond with global companies such as Apple, Aviva, BT and IBM. These links offer opportunities for student internships and placements. This is bolstered by our portfolio of international collaborations with leading institutions in Europe and countries such as USA, India, China and the Middle East. We are also proud members of the Turing University Network, a group of 65 UK universities working together to advance world-class research and build skills for the future.

We pride ourselves in giving all our students the necessary mentoring, support and skills to enable them to gain rewarding and high quality jobs.
