Academic Background
Peter Dearnley read Economics at LSE prior to joining IBM. He joined UEA's Computer Centre to work on a Ph.D. on self-organising data management systems with every intention of returning to industry. He found the University research life fascinating and stayed at UEA to become a founder member of the School of Information Systems (now the School of Computing Sciences). He was Dean of the School from 1981 to 1984 and is now a senior lecturer in computing.
Key Research Interests
Peter's research interests are in database management and in the implementation of information systems. He worked with Pam Mayhew on prototying. His current projects include Intelligent Database Engine and federated databases for health information systems.
