The School provides a vibrant environment in which to carry out computing research. In RAE 2008, 20% of our research activity was classified as world-leading (4*), and 75% as internationally excellent or recognised (3* or 2*).
Sited within the UEA Science Faculty, the School houses research labs dedicated to virtual environments, speech, colour and computational biology. Currently, it has 26 research-active faculty, and around 15 research staff and 50 postgraduate research students. The School runs an active research seminar, attracting speakers from around the world. As well as providing exciting opportunities for PhD projects, the School runs a full postgraduate teaching programme. For more details go to Masters Degrees and Diplomas.
The School's research is organised within three laboratories, whose research activities can be found in our research brochure, as well by following the links below. There is a great deal of research overlap between these laboratories, and considerable collaboration with other UEA Schools and research institutes across the Norwich Research Park. Through SYS Consulting Ltd, the School also undertakes industrially funded research, with contracts ranging from local authorities to national companies. All-in-all it's an exciting time to be researching in computing at UEA.
