Staff within our residential cleaning department are an important link in the pastoral care of our resident students. We look after over 3500 university owned bedrooms which are visited on a daily basis during the week.

These staff are allocated to specific student houses or flats so that a bond may develop between the member of staff and the students in those bedrooms for the academic year. Our cleaning staff are often the first person to notice if someone is feeling unwell or out of sorts, and are also frequently the first person turned to for advice. The importance of this staff/student link should never be underestimated and is one of many ways which the Estates & Buildings division contribute to the student experience.
