The campus has won more than 20 architectural awards and ongoing multi-million pound investment continues to enhance teaching and research facilities.

Chemistry research activity is focused within three broad themes; Physical and Analytical Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, and Biophysical Chemistry.

In addition there are many cross theme activities and two research centres have been established - Energy Materials Laboratory and Centre for Metalloprotein Spectroscopy and Biology - which draw members from across the faculty.
