Lectureship for Dr Garth Jones
The School of Chemistry is delighted with the appointment of Dr Garth Jones to a new lectureship.
Garth is a physical chemist whose research uses a variety of computational and theoretical techniques. He is principally interested in the excited state dynamics of molecules and light-molecule interactions; his models are used to investigate multiphoton and other non-linear optical effects in molecules, electron and energy transfer processes, and photodissociation. Dr Jones has worked at several institutions around the world, including the University of New South Wales, in Australia, where he received his PhD, the University of Bologna in Italy where he was an EU Research Fellow, the University of Essex in the UK where he held a prestigious EPSRC 'Life-Sciences Interface' Fellowship between 2006 and 2009, and UC Berkeley (San Francisco), where he worked as a visiting scholar with Fleming's world- renowned laser group.
