Key Research Interests

 My primary research interests relate to cardiovascular disease and the chemopreventative role flavonoids and their degradation products have on its development. I am particularly interested in investigating flavonoids effects on key cellular mechanisms, in both vascular cells and monocytes. In monocytes, I focus on the regulation of gene expression by Nrf2 and NF-kB, particularly with regard to inflammatory biomarkers of cardiovascular disease.  In vascular cell I additionally focus on the protein expression, activity and interactions involved in the development of cardiovascular disease and the chemopreventative effects dietary compounds exert.
