Year 12 students discover Chemistry and Pharmacy

On the 15th March, year 12 students from across the country joined us at the Discover Chemistry and Pharmacy day for an insight into studying these subjects at degree level. During the morning the students carried out experiments in our teaching laboratories isolating the active ingredients from Panadol tablets. After lunch they used analytical techniques to characterise their products and determine if they had managed to isolate caffeine and paracetamol. Throughout the day students were able to chat with both staff and our current undergraduate and post-graduate students about their experiences of studying Chemistry and Pharmacy at UEA, leaving with a greater understanding of the subjects and their future direction.
