Prof Norman Sheppard FRS

It is with sadness that the University has to announce the death of Prof Norman Sheppard, one of the three founding Professors of the School of Chemistry.

Prof Mark Searcy, Head of CHE, said: “Although he retired some years ago, Prof Sheppard will be well known to many of the faculty and he spoke at the recent 50th anniversary celebrations. He was a physical chemist of immense scientific standing, was a Fellow of the Royal Society, a huge supporter of the School and, I have been told by those who knew him well, a pleasure to work with and a total gentleman. I am sure you will join me in sending condolences to his family.”

Prof Sheppard’s funeral will take place at 2pm on Saturday 25 April at Christ Church Eaton, Christ Church Ave, Norwich.
