Particle physics meets energy chemistry
Members of the UEA Energy Materials Laboratory are exploring new methods to understand fundamental chemistry using particle physics. Dr Joseph Wright and Professor Chris Pickett have exploited the behaviour of muons, short-lived subatomic particles, to probe the chemistry of metal hydrides. The exciting new approach offers a unique insight into metal systems of significant interest in developing new ways to produce hydrogen.
