Chemistry team shortlisted for Royal Society of Chemistry competition
The Emerging Technologies Competition is an annual innovation competition organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Now in its third year, the Competition accelerates the commercialisation of the most impactful ideas in healthcare, energy and sustainability, and materials.
Prof David Russell, Dr Maria Jose Marin and Professor Rob Field (John Innes Centre) have been shortlisted in the Healthcare section of the final. They have developed a simple diagnostic test for the influenza virus which can distinguish between human and avian strains. They will be pitching this new technology to industry experts. Prof Russell said, ‘ We are thrilled to be shortlisted for this prestigious competition. There are 9 other finalists in the Healthcare category, all with very innovative technologies. It will be a fierce competition.’
The winners will be announced at a grand dinner at BAFTA on the evening of Monday 28th June. We wish our team the best of luck!
