Further study

There are several options to consider when finding and applying for further study.

Higher degrees

These can be taught courses at Masters level or research-based PhDs or Masters. A few are primarily vocational (for example, MA in Social Work) but the majority are taken to enhance knowledge within the graduate's specialism or to gain experience of research methods. You may study a different subject from your first degree if you meet the entry requirements.

For details of UEA courses, take a look at the UEA postgraduate admissions information.

Prospects has introduced a free, online application facility for UK and international students which helps streamline the application process. Prospects also maintains lists of the latest courses. We stock Prospects Postgrad, the guide to finding the right course of further study.

Closing dates

Some courses, especially vocational training programmes, may have closing dates in the autumn. Most academic higher degrees do not have fixed closing dates, although there can be deadlines for application for grant support, usually in the spring or early summer.

Vocational training

These include vocational certificates and diplomas, for example, in teaching or law, or other courses with a clear link to a chosen occupation. Prospects contains some useful information on professional and vocational courses, as well as conversion courses.
