Whether your degree is vocational or otherwise it is worth considering the different career options that may be open to you when you finish your course. Begin with your degree course and the subjects you are studying by researching any common career paths for these areas.
- Blackboard jobs and careers (School-specific). Here you will find careers information and websites most relevant to your subjects of study. If you are a current UEA student you should automatically be enrolled on the Blackboard Jobs and Careers module for your School and it should be visible in your module list on the Portal.
- Prospects website. An excellent source of information about most career areas and you can explore options with your subject: http://www.prospects.ac.uk/options_with_your_subject.htm. If you want to research wider career areas you can also explore by sector and types of job: http://www.prospects.ac.uk/types_of_jobs.htm
Look at the calendars of careers events for your faculty. Across the academic year there are sessions on career options and events where you can hear from alumni and employers.
If you are feeling unsure, confused or fearful about your options, do visit the Careers Centre and book a guidance appointment with a careers adviser.
Getting work experience is a great way to find out what it is like to work in particular companies or sectors. The insight you gain will usually help to decide whether or not you would like to work in that area in future.
