Advice for finding work in the UK

• Get as much extra-curricular experience as you can while you are a student. Involvement in Student Union and other student activities will improve your English skills and can develop self-confidence.
• Take voluntary work or part-time work early in your course to build up experience in the workplace. This can be significant in convincing graduate employers that you are familiar with working in the UK.
• Speak to employers you are interested in and ask about their approach to recruiting international students. Knowing this before making applications can save a lot of time and can help to focus your job searching. Attend our events.
• Consider organisations with links or origins in your home country/region that have operations in the UK. They often look for specific language skills and cultural awareness that you may be able to provide.
• If you use recruitment agencies research them carefully, avoid those charging fees to job seekers and keep in regular contact to ensure they are keeping you in mind when they are in contact with employers.
