Prospective Students

The University offers a wide range of activities and services to help you explore your options, gain experience and acquire the skills and competencies needed for graduate employment and further training.

Careers advice and guidance

Our team of professional careers advisers offer careers advice & guidance appointments throughout your time at UEA and beyond. We help students with a wide range of career related issues such as identifying skills, gaining work experience, writing CVs, attending interviews and contacting employers.

Career management workshops

We also run training sessions and workshops throughout the academic year on interview skills, CV writing, applications and assessments, and other self-presentation techniques. Many of these involve employers and our alumni.

Events

We host a range of events that are designed to support you in your university life as well as assist you when it comes to life after graduation.

Our Careers events cover diverse subjects from teaching and writing to biology and computing, and offer you the chance to talk to employers from commercial, public and voluntary sectors. We hold a series of presentations by local, national and international employers throughout each academic year that will give you an insight into working life across different sectors and organisations.

Jobs & Volunteering

Our dedicated Vacancy Service advertises over 1,000 opportunities a year from part-time jobs on campus or locally, work experience and volunteering through to graduate-level vacancies.

Internships & Mentoring

The University has a range of internship schemes for both students and graduates, ranging from initial work experience through to three-month placements. You can also get involved in the UEA Mentoring Programme, which offers the opportunity to talk to someone who has ‘been there and done it’. A career mentor can give insight into their particular sector and advice on gaining experience.

Enterprise

There are also opportunities for you to explore the idea of setting up your own enterprise. Our support ranges from one-to-one advice where you can discuss your ideas and receive help shaping them, through to accessing funding to help you set up a social enterprise.
