Working with our Students & Graduates

Students are increasingly career focussed and have the opportunity to work with potential employers at various stages during their time at university. The University of East Anglia currently supports four types of student placement, varying in duration and academic level, each offering both student and partner organisations a different set of rewards.

  • Working with our studentsShell Step - a nationwide programme for project-based work that places second and penultimate year students into small and medium-sized enterprises and organisations.

  • Year in industry - a paid, employer-based placement for undergraduates entering their third year.

  • Student projects - a summer or term-time project suitable for third year bachelors and masters students. Students run a project themselves as part of their assessment.

  • Studentships - a 3.5 to 4-year doctoral training grant for top quality graduates to undertake research (leading to a PhD) on a specialist subject. Suitable for an intensive research project that has the expert support from an academic supervisor.

  • Graduate Internship Programme - Internships are a proven way for organisations to inject fresh talent into the workplace to address strategic business issues and kick start graduate careers.
