During the summer, the Centre for Molecular and Structural Biochemistry (CMSB) is hosting, within its research laboratories, 11 undergraduate summer students, who have obtained funding from a range of sources, including the Biochemical Society, the Wellcome Trust, the Nuffield Foundation, Society for General Microbiology and The Big C.
These studentships are highly competitive and provide an ideal opportunity for our brightest students to gain insight into the academic research environment.

On Friday 9th July, a BBQ social mixer was held in gloriously hot weather, giving the students the chance to relax with fellow students and also faculty, and to swap experiences of their summer projects so far. The photos below were taken at the BBQ and thanks go to Drs Nick Watmough and Tharin Blumenschein for organising the event.
Later in the summer, the students will also have the opportunity to present their work, as part of a seminar series organised by Dr Tharin Blumenschein.
