The Centre for Molecular and Structural Biochemistry will hold its inaugural Early Years Researchers’ Colloquium on the afternoon of Wednesday 2nd March in EFRY 01.02 (14.00-17.00 hrs).
In addition to four speakers whose talks reflect the diversity of the science taking place within the CMSB we will be joined by Professor Emma Raven who will deliver the BIO Open Lecture at 4pm. The programme for the afternoon is outlined below and should be of considerable interest to final year undergraduates taking biochemistry modules.
Programme
14.00 Dr Nick Le Brun (Director CMSB) Introduction and Welcome
14.05 Dr Jess Van Wonderen What use is EPR for diamagnetic proteins?
14.30 Colin Lockwood The characterisation of cytochrome c nitrite reductase
14.55 Dr Jason Crack WhiD: The search for signals
15.20 Tea
15.35 Dr Gaye White How do rock-breathing bacteria shuttle electrons across their outer membrane?
16.00 BIO Open Lecture Professor Emma Raven (University of Leicester) How iron enzymes activate oxygen: the mechanism of degradation of tryptophan by the heme dioxygenases
17:00 Drinks and Nibbles in the BIO Atrium
