Hands-on science fun for the whole family

From bugs, birds and bees to molecules, cells and plants, the University of East Anglia will be holding a Biology Open Day on September 18.

The free public event, organised by the School of Biological Sciences, will explore many different aspects of biology - the science which makes us all brilliant.

The day is aimed at youngsters aged from five to 18 and their families, and promises a range of hands-on science activities, as well as the chance to find out what a real laboratory looks like.

Organiser Dr Kay Yeoman said: "Biology is an amazing science where you can learn anything from how tiny cells grow and behave to how insects live together.

"This open day will give children, teenagers, and their families the chance to have a go at scientific experiments, look through microscopes, and take an autumn field walk to find out more about the biology all around us."

The event starts at 10am in Lecture Theatre 1 with a Saturday Science Lecture ‘Biology Fights Back!’, and then runs from 11am-4pm.

It is not necessary to attend the lecture to come to the open day. To book tickets for the lecture visit the Saturday Science webpages or for more information about the open day contact Dr Kay Yeoman by emailing k.yeoman@uea.ac.uk
