Funding for Postgraduate Research Degrees

Studentships and Scholarships for MPhil and PhD programmes in the School of World Art Studies and Museology at UEA.

The School has up to 14 doctoral studentships:

  • 2 are supported by the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) and are available to any PhD applicant to the School of World Art and Museology
  • 2 are supported by the University and are available to any PhD applicant to the School of World Art and Museology
  • 10 are supported by the University's Faculty of Arts and Humanties and are available to any PhD applicant to any of the faculty's nine schools of study
  • Current PhD students in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities can also apply.

How much would the funding be?

AHRC Studentships:

  • UK applicants - funding covers full course fees and maintenance payment
  • EU applicants - funding covers full course fees only.

University, Faculty and School Studentships:

  • For UK and EU students funding includes a maintenance payment and covers full course fees
  • For international students funding includes a maintenance payment and covers partial courses fees (funding for course fees is for the same amount for all students, but as courses cost more for international students, it does not cover the full amount).

Maintenance is paid at Current AHRC rates (PDF). In 2011-12 maintenance was £13,590 per year for full-time students.

How can I apply?

  • Your application for your PhD must be received by 17 February 2012 in order to be considered for a studentship
  • You do not need to submit a separate application for studentships.

How are studentships awarded?

  • Studentships are awarded on academic merit and the overall strength of the application.
