Semana Santa en los Andes (Holy Week in the Andes)
In 1970 Huaraz was massively destroyed by an earthquake. Survivors tell that a group of processional images, known as Jew and Roman soldiers, miraculously saved themselves from the destruction. These soldiers, the quintessence of heterodox forms of Catholic cult in the region, are widely celebrated during Holy Week, the most important religious festival in Latin America.
