Biography
Simon Dell has published in the fields of twentieth-century art history, design history and the history of photography. His principal research is focused on aspects of visual culture in France during the 1920s and 1930s, extending from the avant-garde to anonymous photojournalism. He has also worked on site specificity and sculptural practice after 1960s minimalism. He is currently researching the place of art in the relationship between twentieth-century France and its colonies.
Career
Before coming to UEA in 2000, Simon taught at the University of St Andrews, Bath Spa University and the Courtauld Institute of Art.
