Biography

Mónica Núñez Laiseca is interested in the connections between late conceptual art and current artistic practice and the ways in which curatorial strategies can reveal expressive relationships and tensions across different artistic media. She has curated exhibitions on the work of Anne Collier, Nancy Davenport, Redmond Entwistle, Xavier Rivas and Lars Tünbjork, among others, as well as several group exhibitions and collaborative projects, such as Out of Body (Open Eye Gallery, 2008), What You Can’t See (Belfast Exposed Photography, 2009) and The Prehistory of the Crisis II (Belfast Exposed Photography and Project Arts Centre, 2009). She is also author of a book in Arts and Politics in Spain during the 1960s and has conducted research on Cold War art.

Career

Prior to joining the school Mónica Núñez Laiseca was Exhibitions Curator at Open Eye Gallery from 2006 to 2008 and Curator at Belfast Exposed Photography through 2009. She has also undertaken a number of freelance projects, most recently in Japan and Germany.
