Biography
Matthew Sillence joined the School as Lecturer in Humanities for Graduate Education and Training in 2012. He has worked for the library and student support office in the Sainsbury Research Unit for the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas following the completion of his PhD within the School of World Art Studies and Museology in 2009.

Key Research Interests
Tomb sculpture in England and Italy 1200-1500; seal matrices, impressions and sealing practices in Europe 1200-1500; identity construction in material culture; anthropology of art.
Current Research Projects
Cataloguing and analysis of the collection of seal matrices (dies), wax impressions and casts in Norfolk through antiquarian networks.
Teaching Interests
Issues and debates in world art, medieval and early modern England and Italy. Personal and professional skills development: academic networking, presentations, image handling and digital humanities.

Developer of the Virtual Graduate School in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
