Biography
Ross joined the School of American Studies in September 2011. His main research interest is twentieth-century American and British poetry, particularly in the context of collage, quotation, and intertextuality. He is also interested in the continuing legacies of nineteenth-century Transcendentalism and Romanticism in modern experimental poetry and the intersection of contemporary poetry and environment. His current research considers the role and reception of transatlantic small press poetry communities in the late twentieth-century. Ross’s book Ronald Johnson’s Modernist Collage Poetry was published in 2010. He has written on various American and British poets including Lorine Niedecker, Ian Hamilton Finlay, and Jonathan Williams. His poetry has been, or will shortly be, published in Shearsman Magazine and LVNG.
