Welcome to the website for the Acquired Brain Injury Group at the University of East Anglia.

The driving force behind our research programme is the desire to make interventions for people with acquired brain injury even better, allowing many more people to resume the activities they did before they had a stroke.
Our research activity is focused on the identification, development and evaluation of therapies to enhance the normal everyday lives of people who have sustained what is known as Acquired Brain Injury. Participants in our studies may have a variety of diagnoses including; stroke, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis. Our studies are designed to contribute to knowledge of:
- how the nervous system changes in response to specific therapies
- how different people respond to the same therapy so that we can improve the ability to decide which therapies are most suitable for which people
- how therapy can be delivered most effectively to benefit people with acquired brain injury
To do this we combine clinical, neurophysiological and biomechanical investigations as appropriate for individual studies. More details can be found in our Current Projects, as well as in our Research Archive. Please also see NNUK Stroke Unit.
