  • Master of Arts, Medical Sociology,  School of economic and Social Studies, University of East Anglia (Distinction in 1996)

Research interests

  • Background in Medical Sociology, Philosophy and History and developing skills in Health Economics
  • I am particularly interested in designing research methods to measure socioeconomic impacts of health, to assess demands for formal and informal care and to develop instruments using patient reported outcomes to evaluate health and social care interventions.
  • I use a combination of qualitative and quantitative  methods to design, conduct and evaluate research
  • I am interested in a broad range of research topics, including the socioeconomic impact of food allergy; inequalities in health; socioeconomic determinants of health; equality and diversity issues in health and social care for users and providers of services
  • I have experience of conducting research at the local, national and international level; I enjoy working on projects in collaboration with colleagues in other countries, and am currently working on an EU Framework 6 project with partners across Europe and in India and Australia to develop an and protocol to measure the social and economic costs of food allergies
