My research interests focus on concepts of assessment of need and management of change. My main methodology is qualitative, particularly phenomenology and case study. Doctoral work focused on the concept of self through role rationalisation in people newly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and placed particular emphasis on their stories. I was primarily interested in health career pathways and the compromise of desired occupational performances. Post-doctoral development concentrates on work rehabilitation with people with newly diagnosed RA. My other interests centre on chronic illness, programme evaluation, collaborative care partnerships (both voluntary and statutory), continuing professional development, and interprofessional learning.
