My research interests relate both to my previous clinical speciality of cardiovascular respiratory physiotherapy and my current work within education. I have been part a project to develop a competency assessment and education tool for physiotherapists working on-call. My main research interests are the experiences of clients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease undertaking pulmonary rehabilitation and randomised controlled trials investigating physiotherapy interventions. Previously my research has focused on critical care, undertaking studies into the use of closed-suction in intensive care.
· Co-ordinator and primary teacher delivering cardiovascular and respiratory teaching for physiotherapy students. This aspect of the unit has been particularly highlighted by students and very favourably evaluated by them over the past three years according to both unit and course review. A large number of students have developed this aspect of their learning for their dissertation studies.
· Coordinator and sole teacher of the high dependency unit, a compulsory and advanced third year unit for the physiotherapy programme
· Dissertation supervision and marking.
