Anne has a shared role between the School of AHP and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office. In her school role she is a lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy. She has 12 years’ experience as a SLT, initially working with a mixed caseload of children and adults before specialising in working with adults with acquired disorders. Latterly she was the Specialist SLT in Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). She contributes to the SLT curriculum as a Problem Based Learning (PBL) tutor and Conversation Partners (Adults) tutor. She lectures in all 3 years of the course, in particular on the Acquired Language Disorders; Motor Speech Disorders & Dysphagia and Disorders of the Oral / Vocal Tract subject blocks.
Anne has a particular interest in teaching and learning in higher education and holds a Masters degree in Clinical Education. Her dissertation focussed on final year SLT students’ perspectives on PBL.
Anne is the Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Champion for UEA. PAL is a structured mentoring scheme whereby undergraduate students at higher levels support first year students’ learning. PAL was introduced into UEA in January 2013 with a planned roll-out over 3 years. Anne’s role is to promote PAL and facilitate the introduction across UEA.
Speech and language therapy/rehabilitation for adults with communication and swallowing disorders as the result of stroke/head injury or progressive neurological disease.
