Undergraduate Students
When should I apply? Our on-line application form will be available at the end of May. Please ensure that you have read the Terms and Conditions of the Licence before you complete the application form. There is no rush (deadline and guarantee information is below) so please take time to read through all the information and to consider your preferences. The application deadline is 11.59pm GMT on 31st July 2013. When you have decided on what type of room you would like and have read all of the relevant information please go to the Application Form.
What happens after I apply for a room? UEA Accommodation will allocate your room when we have two pieces of information:
1. Your on-line Application Form 2. You have been accepted by UEA as a provisionally enrolled new student. That is to say when your prospective School of Study at UEA is satisfied that you have met all of the entry criteria. For many UK students this will be during the week after the A level results are published.
When you have been allocated a room you will be sent a room offer e-mail via the e-mail address you have supplied at the time of the application. This e-mail will contain full details about your room and all the information that you need to plan your arrival at UEA.
Your room offer will be made to the e-mail address that you provided on the UEA Accommodation Preference Form. You will be given a few days to accept (or reject) the room offer after which, if you have not responded to the room offer, it will be withdrawn and the room booking cancelled. We therefore strongly recommend that you check your e-mail account regularly to avoid disappointment. Please also ensure that you have added accom@uea.ac.uk to your safe senders list (or equivalent).
It is your responsibility to check your personal e-mail account regularly including any 'Junk Mail' or any other relevant subfolders.
When should I plan to arrive at UEA? For international students the arrivals days are Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th of September 2013. You will be able to collect your key from 10am until 8pm from the LCR (see Campus Map). However, we recommend that you plan to arrive before 5pm when all of the shops, banks, schools of study are open. For UK students, depending on the residence that you are allocated you will be allocated a room from either Saturday 21st or Sunday 22nd of September 2013 and your key will be available for collection between 10am and 5pm. Your arrival date will be confirmed on your room offer e-mail.
What am I committing to? On arrival you will be asked to sign a document called a Licence to Occupy and you will be legally committed to abiding by the Terms and Conditions which include paying for the room for the full licence period. Please note that our standard licence length is for a 38 week period. Students of AHP, NSC and MED will be offered licence periods appropriate to the length of their specific academic year. The full licence period including the start and end dates will be detailed on your room offer e-mail. You are also committing to abide by the House Rules.

The accommodation offer is an e-mail which confirms your allocation into Student Residences. Your offer of accommodation will be sent by email only, to the e-mail address that you provided on application, shortly after your room has been allocated. You must ACCEPT or REJECT your accommodation offer. If you reject your offer then your accommodation allocation will be removed, this does not affect your application as a student at UEA.
Arrival Date
You must arrive on the date specified in the accommodation arrival details. If you cannot arrive on this date, please let us know in advance and we will try to hold your room for you. If you do not arrive by the start of term (23rd September 2013) and have not arranged an alternative arrival date in advance (by contacting us), you may lose your allocation. For further details about arrivals see "Arriving at UEA"
Address Details
The offer letter tells you the room type and residence you have been allocated, but does not give a specific room number. Your allocation is subject to change - although we will try to make sure you keep your original allocation, we cannot guarantee it. For details about post and postal addresses see the Living in Residences section.
Payment Details
Your offer will set out the accommodation fees. Fees are payable in full, in three instalments or by monthly direct debit. There is no damage deposit to pay and payment of accommodation fees are not required in advance. For more details about invoices and payments see the Living in Residences section.
Problem with your allocation?
If there is a problem with your allocation please let us know in advance, and we may be able to help. Room changes are sometimes difficult to arrange once term has begun, but if you have any problems we will do everything we can to help - so make sure you talk to us as soon as possible.
The UEA Accommodation Office processes thousands of application forms each year, but we only allocate rooms to those applicants who have secured a place studying at UEA. Our busiest time is always from mid-August, right up to Arrivals Week, and most undergraduate students who have applied for Accommodation will get confirmation of their offer in mid-late August. Applicants should continue to check their emails during this time. Have a look at our Accommodation Diary for a clearer picture of when your room will be allocated, when you can expect to get an offer, and when you should arrive at UEA.

August 2013 A level Results Released to Students
From this date, applicants with conditional offers are either given unconditional offers or rejected by the University. If a course isn't filled, available places are advertised and new applications are accepted - this is called 'clearing'.
August to September 2011 1st Main Allocation Period
As soon as the A level results are released and an applicant is accepted onto a course the admissions process is complete and your prospective school of study will adjust/update your record. It is at this point that we can allocate accommodation and you will be notified of an accommodation offer by email. You must respond to this accommodation offer within the time specified, normally five days.
16th to 22nd September 2013 Arrivals Week
