Application Form

If you wish to book a room in our guest accommodation, please click here to be redirected to UEA's Broadview Lodge page.

Please note the following important points before completing the application form:

1. If you are experiencing problems applying for accommodation, this may be because you have not formally accepted your offer of a place at the UEA. If this is the case, please contact your prospective school at UEA before proceeding.

2. Due to problems in previous years we strongly recommend that you make your application using a non-hotmail e-mail account where possible.

3. Remember that the e-mail address that you use to make your application, will be the one that all future correspondence up until your arrival (including your offer letter that you will need to respond to) will be sent to. Once you have arrived at UEA you will be given a UEA e-mail account and all UEA correspondence will be sent to your UEA e-mail address.

4. Always remember to check any junk mail folders you may have in the email address you have provided to us for "@uea.ac.uk" messages. This is the main way we will try to contact you about your application. Please add us to your 'Safe Senders' list or equivalent.

5. It does not matter when you fill the application form out for accommodation. We do not allocate rooms on a 'first come first served' basis. Rooms are not allocated until you become a fully confirmed UEA student and as long as you have filled out an application form before this date (and before the deadline for your form) it does not matter if it is in June or the day before you are confirmed. For most undergraduates, we will not allocate rooms until after the A-Level results come out in August. Do not be concerned if you do not hear anything from us before this date.

6. Postgraduate students arriving in January are not guaranteed a room in accommodation. If you still wish to apply please fill out a normal Postgraduate 38 week application form and ignore any references to the number of weeks. If we are able to offer you a room it is likely in most cases that we will offer it from January to December 2012.

7. If you need any further help in how to complete the application form we have produced a step by step guide to doing so.

Postgraduate Accommodation Application Form

If you are studying a pre-sessional course with INTO before your Postgraduate course, you can indicate on the INTO school application form that you require UEA accommodation for the INTO pre-sessional course. The UEA Postgraduate study accommodation is a separate period of either 38 or 50 weeks that will begin in September 2011 when you start your postgraduate study. Please see below...

- INTO Pre-sessional Course + 38 weeks (September-June) of Postgraduate study accommodation,
- or INTO Pre-sessional Course + 50 weeks (September-September) of Postgraduate study accommodation.

Do not include the INTO pre-sessional course when working out whether you would prefer to have 38 weeks or 50 weeks of accommodation for your Postgraduate study.

We will however, still use the same accommodation application form for both the INTO course and the Postgraduate study. You do not need to apply for the pre-sessional course separately although you do need to make INTO aware that you wish to take up UEA Accommodation while you study with them. For more information please see here.

Web Application FAQs

General Information

Almost all general problems (boxes going blank after submitting your details, unexpected page appearing during the process, incorrect data being saved by your browser) can be solved by closing down all instances of your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari etc...) and then opening one up again and restarting the process (you can check that all instances of your browser are closed by opening the task manager). The direct link to the application form is www.room.uea.ac.uk.

The web application system works on a web language called Javascript, meaning that the 'Back' button on your browser will not work during the application process. If you need to go back, please use the 'Back' buttons provided on the form, not on your web browser.

What is my SITS/UEA Application number?

SITS is the name of UEA's student records database.

UEA allocates a unique SITS number to each prospective student. This is sometimes referred to as the SITS number or your Application Number. When you begin study at UEA it will be referred to as your Student Number.

It is either a seven-digit number beginning with 3, 4, 5 or 6, OR it is a nine-digit number beginning with a 1, and can be found on all correspondence from UEA, including your offer letter.

I haven't received my validation e-mail, where is it?

Please check the junk mail folder of your e-mail account. We advise against using Microsoft-based services (Hotmail, Live, MSN) as their spam filters occasionally identify our e-mails (incorrectly) as junk.

If you still cannot find it, you can simply re-register with a different address and wait for the e-mail again. The system does not 'remember' you unless you click the link contained in the validation e-mail.

I want to choose a particular residence, but it doesn’t appear on my form – what do I do?

The options on the application forms refer to a room type, and not necessarily to a particular Residence. The main option affected is the Campus en-suite room option, which groups together all of the en-suite residences on campus (for example, Nelson Court, Constable Terrace, Colman House), and it’s not possible to apply for one particular residence within this option. All of the en-suite residences provide very similar facilities and are located within a few minutes’ walk from each other.

How do I know if my application has been sent?

Once you have sent the form your web browser will display a message that confirmation has been sent to your e-mail address. This means we have received your application. You can check your application has been submitted by following these steps:

1. Close all instances of your web browser.
2. Open a new instance of your web browser and visit www.room.uea.ac.uk.
3. Log in with your details.

The screen will display a message confirming the date of your application.

If I still do not know what to do, how can you help me?

Please send us an e-mail to accom@uea.ac.uk and we will advise you how to proceed with your application.
