In addition to University’s renowned LCR
venue which hosts regular club nights, the city centre caters for all music tastes, from mainstream rock and pop and R&B to alternative indie, D’n’B and underground dance. The music scene is ever-evolving, many of the smaller clubs and venues run by local students and collectives, providing a thriving alternative to the mainstream clubs and bars.
The popular Riverside
area has plenty of pre-club bars and clubs and is home to the recently opened Wonderland
, which has a state of the art sound and lighting system with breathtaking visuals. Prince of Wales Road is always popular on the weekend and houses many of the city's clubs. Kartel
is also a popular haunt at the end of an evening, offering an after-hours roof terrace.
There are over 300 pubs and bars in the city, each with their own unique vibe. The Golden Triangle
has an excellent selection of cosy pubs which are well established within the student community, offering regular quiz evenings and film nights to provide variety to the evening.
