For film lovers there are two multiplex venues in Norwich City centre- Odeon and Vue, and one of the finest art-house cinemas in the East of England – Cinema City.
Comedy nights are well catered for in the city, and these range from big scale events such as the Norfolk Comedy Festival, to monthly evenings at Red Card Comedy, and open-mic nights at local pubs for the budding amateurs.
The LCR, a 1500 capacity venue on campus at UEA and run by the Union of UEA Students, attracts the biggest and best bands. Over the years big acts have included U2, Manic Street Preachers, Kasabian, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iron Maiden, Coldplay.
The Waterfront, also run by the Union of UEA Students, host a varied line-up of acts and the Norwich Arts Centre was the regional winner of the NME's Best Small Venue Award in 2011.
If you do choose to stick around over the summer, there are a number of great music festivals to choose from in East Anglia including the increasingly popular Latitude, which offers music alongside stand-up comedy, poetry and crafts.
