UEA maintains top 15 league table ranking

The University of East Anglia (UEA) has maintained a top 15 position in the prestigious Complete University Guide league table for the third year running.

UEA has steadily risen through the ranks over the past decade and achieves a rank of 14 in the 2019 table which was released today (25 April).

The Guide, which measures 131 UK universities across 10 categories, also ranks 70 subjects, with UEA appearing in the top 10 for nine of the 30 subjects listed.

"We're very proud to once again be ranked one of the top 15 UK universities in this prestigious league table." said UEA Vice-Chancellor Professor David Richardson.

"The Guide uses an extremely comprehensive set of measures, making the results a particularly gratifying reflection of the hard work of our staff and students alike. UEA achieves consistently high league table rankings, and this is further endorsement of our excellent standards of teaching, research and student experience."

Significant rank improvements include Nursing which has risen from 10th to fifth and the Pharmacology and Pharmacy (seventh) and Social Work (fourth), which have both risen nine places.

Physiotherapy is ranked third in the subject tables, American Studies fifth, while other subjects in the top 10 include, Creative Writing (eighth), Marketing (eighth) and Communications and Media Studies (10th).

The league table was first launched 11 years ago with the aim of providing credible, freely-accessible information for prospective students and measures Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Entry Standards, Student: Staff Ratio; Spending on Academic Services; Spending on Student Facilities; Good Honours Degrees; Graduate Prospects and Completion.

UEA Students’ Union Education Officer Mary Leishman, said: “Students love UEA for all sorts of reasons - great teaching, the friendly and supportive atmosphere, our incredible range of sports clubs and societies, and the compact and inexpensive city.

“And whilst there’s lots of brutalist concrete around, the bunnies, the broad and the campus accommodation guarantee all help to make the UEA experience one that students really rate.”
