UEA climbs to highest ever Complete University Guide spot
The University of East Anglia has climbed to 14th spot in the Complete University Guide – its highest position ever in the prestigious league table and third year in the Top 20.
Two places higher than 2015, this matches UEA’s best ever position across the major league tables, after previously reaching 14th in both the Guardian and the Times and Sunday Times rankings.
The Complete University Guide measures 127 UK Higher Education institutions against ten criteria: Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Entry Standards, Student: Staff Ratio; Spending on Academic Services; Spending on Student Facilities; Good Honours degrees achieved; Graduate Prospects and Completion.
In separate listings covering 70 subjects, UEA features in 34 tables and makes the Top Ten for nine, coming top for Physiotherapy.
Creative Writing has been added to the Guide's list of subjects for the first time, placing UEA 5th in the country, as has Occupational Therapy, with UEA 4th. Other subjects in the top ten are American Studies, Anatomy and Physiology, Aural and Oral Sciences, Drama, Art HIstory and Nursing.
UEA Vice-Chancellor Prof David Richardson said: “Our consistently high performance in these influential league tables is testament to the ongoing hard work of all our staff and students in making UEA such a rewarding place to live and study. To be named as one of the Top 15 UK universities and to be ranking so consistently highly across the main league tables, at a time when students expect ever more from their university, is recognition of UEA’s extremely high standard.”
Dr Bernard Kingston, principal author of TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk, said: “There is a considerable degree of stability at the upper end of the league table this year. While dramatic changes may be newsworthy, this stability indicates that the rankings are robust and credible for young people seeking a university place – our primary purpose.”
